Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God… Romans 3:24-25
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace… Ephesians 1:7
Through the blood God does clean
Through the blood Christ redeems
the soul that comes in faith to Him
washed in its crimson stream.
The power of the cross displayed
for all the world to see
is Christ's own blood on Calvary
shed for the soul to clean.
The sinner though as vile he be
and damned to hell indeed
when in the blood of God's own Son
he comes, from guilt he's freed.
Though sin as scarlet stains his soul
and devil bound he be,
when by the blood he trusts in God,
his requite has been found—
this not through works which he has done
nor merit in himself,
but by the Son of God alone
in Whom his faith resounds.
The wrath of God now satisfied
and pow'r of sin released,
the soul now cleansed victorious
does stand before the seas
of Adam's offspring yet still lost—
a hope for all who will
proclaims he with full confidence,
"Christ's blood's the answer still!"
