A Farewell to Love (Revisited)

This entry is part 6 of 17 in the series Brokenhearted

I love you, my dear friend! This was a fresh, new start.
To think that you chose me to walk a while with you,
that I had met a soul with whom to share my heart.

I felt so overjoyed finally working through
my darkest tears and pain. I am so overcome
to think that you chose me. To walk a while with you

was joy unparalleled. Oh, from where did you come
my angel, kind and sweet? Now how will I release
my darkest tears and pain? I am so overcome

with the deepest aching—I find I have no peace—
without you beside me, with you under his sheets.
My angel, kind and sweet, now how will l release

my longing for your hand, because my heart still beats
with love for you alone? I weep over this thought—
without you beside me, with you under his sheets,

knowing you're there with him—that our love was for naught.
I love you, my dear friend! This was a fresh, new start;
with love for you alone, I weep over this thought:
that I had met a soul with whom to share my heart.
